Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has announced that it will strengthen its support for micro-enterprises through the distribution of People's Business Credit (Kredit Usaha Rakyat/KUR) worth IDR 270 trillion this year. This amount represents a 13 trillion rupiah increase from the previous year, indicating BRI's commitment to continue supporting micro-economic growth in Indonesia.
BRI Increases People's Business Credit (KUR) to IDR 270 Trillion
In 2022, BRI received an allocation of IDR 257 trillion for KUR and successfully distributed IDR 252.4 trillion to 6.5 million debtors. However, BRI acknowledges that the distribution of KUR has not yet reached the government's allocation. Therefore, BRI will continue to communicate with stakeholders to adjust this year's KUR allocation to available capacity.
The current KUR interest rate stands at 16%, where 10% is a government subsidy for micro and small business owners. The remaining 6% must be paid by the community. Nevertheless, BRI's CEO, Soenarso, emphasized that KUR is a credit for micro-enterprises, not a grant or aid. The funding for KUR is derived from public or third-party funds, and the bank must still pay interest to customers who have saved their money. KUR funding sources are 100% from the bank, obtained through loans to the community in the form of savings, deposits, and current accounts.
BRI has sufficient capacity to distribute KUR, but is limited by working days. The average daily distribution of BRI KUR is IDR 1 trillion. Therefore, BRI will continue to communicate with stakeholders to adjust the allocation to an appropriate capacity.
BRI's KUR is working capital credit and investment credit, with a maximum credit limit of IDR 500 million. The distribution of KUR is a effort to encourage micro-economic growth in Indonesia and provide job opportunities for the community. Through this support, BRI hopes to help micro-enterprises gain easier financial access and develop their businesses, ultimately improving the overall economic welfare of the society.
BRI's commitment to micro-economic development is apparent, and this significant increase in KUR distribution is a testament to its dedication. By providing accessible financial support to micro-enterprises, BRI is making a positive impact on the economy, creating job opportunities and improving the welfare of the Indonesian people.
